Re: KUMB Podcast with Sullivan x 3
I think the club has failed to buy players with a good sell on fee or at least those who we can make a profit from.
Look at Arsenal who managed to buy cheap, nurture a player and sell high.

We as a club pay high for players who fail to perform then find it impossible to sell. We have to consider that the players we want rid of will not make us more than we paid. Jarvis being a prime example.

I am sure there are Championship or lower league sides who will want our players but as we gave them high salaries, it does limit our ability to shift, i.e Nolan.

Personally I feel our transfer business has been awful, we gained some "stars" but we are left as a club that cannot move its deadwood.

I honestly feel the owners are seeing the OS as their payday, do a season there, get interest in and then sell high. They know they cannot afford to drop the crap players and invest in quality replacements, therefore sell to someone else who can afford player loss.

I am frustrated too. I think we are just very unlucky. We have important players constantly injured and also have players earning a big wedge who should not be in the squad. This is effecting us signing better players.

Until we shift some deadwood I cant see us improving much and we seem to blame the Owners for this when really the likes of Nolan, Maiga, jarvis & Carroll are all Sam signings.

Re: KUMB Podcast with Sullivan x 3
They have spent before (and well) and therefore had players to sell to allow for quality new arrivals

We have bought poorly, but our revenue is more therefore we hould expect investment to allow us to compete with these sides

If you stay the same you go backwards in this league

Re: KUMB Podcast with Sullivan x 3
Our net spending has been more than all the clubs you mention bar Palace. Our net spending has been more than Liverpool's and nearly as much as Man U's!

Re: KUMB Podcast with Sullivan x 3
Stoke, Swansea, Palace, Soton

Our revenue and potential is far greater then these sides player sales aside.

Thats why we expect to compete with them.

Re: KUMB Podcast with Sullivan x 3
I think that is realistically where we are at. Around the mid table. People expect us to be spending more than clubs in and around us. Why? and how?

Ok we may have seen the likes of Southampton and Villa spend the money in the last couple of seasons but look at the players they have sold. We have sold very little over the last few years. Think Downing is the best player we have lost for a long time.

Deal

Thats up to you, i find it hard to believe. I think its a case of not wanting to afford then cant

And Sullivan said midtable- if Sakho gets injured the boy said 13th......he didnt exactly disagree now did he

Sullivan is one of, if not the best owner we've ever had, sadly he is a PR nightmare at times, his 2 kids chiming in on professional players don't help either.

Luckily new Muslamic owners will come in soon & we can all relax.

And the mid table was when asked what would happen if we had a run of injuries. Not what the target was.

Rossal.

He said clearly countless times that we have about 7 mill more to spend. That is Song and a loan signing at best. People throwing Austins and Hernandez round all the time but I genuinely believe him when he says we cant afford them.

His son was the one who said Grant Holt once had a good season.
I thought the bit about Barton was good, DS said he'd spoken to some players as well as listening to fans and they weren't keen so he wanted to protect the dressing room.

Re: KUMB Podcast with Sullivan x 3
Listened to it on way home last night

Very very worrying soundbits coming from Sullivan

- Thinks Austin is unproven and was likened to Grant Holt

- Thinks £9mil for top championship strikers is obsurd - It's not its the going rate now with all the revenue flying around

- Wanted Barton because it was a fantastic deal financially

- Mid table is the target, although mentioned the same team was 3rd at Christmas

- Load of bollocks about spending and financial fair play. How have we spent less then last season but the revenue has increased ?

One plus point

- If Boro go up we get £1.5M as part of the Downing deal

Overall was left feeling frustrated and a little bit embarrassed after the Austin comments. Reckons a top striker on loan for 50k a week but we shall see if he pulls it off.

Would rather he get his head down and spend the money to put a real top competitive squad together, not just one that can do ok but only if they all stay fit. Put your neck on the line, back Slaven and go for it. Get to p8 and with the move next summer we could attract some top top players that would kick us on even more.

Aaron Lennon/Jesse Lingard and Negredo on loan would be my targets.

"There are no qualms about the decision we made. You cannot spend large sums of money on a high-risk basis"

I reckon we'd have gone for him if the money was right and had a similar decision to make as them.

I dunno I just think he's talking sense, and I couldn't care a less what Austin's agent thinks. He did fail a medical. He is very expensive. He didn't play well against us. I don't see why a chairman isn't allowed to say that.

Coates. "We would have taken the player had he passed the medical. But we were strongly advised by our medical team that it was a risk we could not take"

He was talking about a player who wasn't his and was ours.
Nobody cared.
